Today I wanted to highlight and point out someone who has been mentoring me since the beginning of Unique Ambitions. Mike aka AZNmade is an artist based out of Oak Cliff in Dallas. AZNmike is a graphic designer and artist who has done work for Urban Outfitters, Converse, as well as Oaktopia. He designs three-dimensional figures called hurricanes, which are based off of individuality. Each design is different from the next, as two snowflakes are never alike. This message can be part of a bigger message about individuality. People should be themselves, embrace the differences, and create for themselves. One could interpret the hurricanes as a symbol of being different while being part of the same structures. AZNmike is someone who I could relate to because he also understood the different mentality that immigrants have. He is always trying to find ways to grow; his work ethic is relentless and is always humble to whoever he talks to. I felt like I was just talking to a friend, which made it easier to ask for guidance. We could talk about the similarities we had growing up because we had similar experiences in school. I am grateful for him mentoring me in the right direction. He has multiple events happening in Dallas, which you should all check out. You can find him on instagram (@aznmade) to stay updated with his work!
When someone uses the word genuine to describe someone, what are a few things that come to mind? One could say respectable, charismatic, and well loved. This individual has those qualities and creates authentic relationships while spreading good vibes to everyone he meets. Let me introduce you to Demetri Sheffield, aka 90pts. I saw some of his work on instagram which was intriguing. We met through a mutual friend and Boom! We instantly exchanged contact information and met up this past Saturday to hang out. I met up with 90 in Oak Lawn for a shoot he was doing for @mondaysuck. He was with his homies JaVonn and Dozie. They instantly made me feel like I had been their friend from the get go. We got lunch at Serious Pizza in Deep Ellum, which was fantastic! I realized that 90 is very honest and blunt, which takes a lot of people off guard. If he does not like something, he will not hesitate to turn to anyone and tell you how he feels. He surrounds himself with friends who push each other to do better. If you just want to hear compliments about yourself, then you are in for a surprise. His pictures speak volumes without captions, and it all started from his passion for movies and shoes. Just watching him take pictures, I could see his detail to attention. He shows authenticity and uniqueness in every in every picture by showing the world from his eyes. At the end of the day, it honestly did not even feel like an interview, it was just me having fun with 90, JaVonn, and Dozie. I even got to meet Scotty and J Bar with Homme Femme LA*. Demetri showed me nothing but love, even though he had not known me for long. He introduced me to Homme Femme without me asking and is eager to see people around him progress. 90pts said something to me that I will never forget, which was, “When I see people who want to learn, I help them so we both can succeed; one day I want them to be better than me”. I was left both speechless and humbled by his perceptive. Everyone will eventually grow up, but deep down will always have that inner kid somewhere. Spend a day with 90, and I promise you that inner kid will come out.

PS: Interview with Homme Femme LA coming next week!
I spent Saturday with Drake (aka Deadly) Williams, local designer and the owner of the brand Deadly Doodles. We started off the day by taking pictures around Deep Ellum followed by lunch at the Twisted Root Co. As we went around Deep Ellum I noticed a couple things about Deadly. He cared about the environment and the state of his surroundings. Deadly wants to make a difference; he is always thinking about different ways/ events that can bring the community together to create positive change. I met Deadly about a couple months ago and I can say that he does not let his ego get to him. Drake uses Deadly Doodles as a way of reaching out to the community around him. Deadly was approached by fans a couple times through-out the night, and it was the perfect way of seeing the impact he is making in society. People care about his art and seeing him take time, out of whatever we were doing, to talk about what people liked and what they wanted to see. These moments were spread apart through the day and not once did he brush someone off. Deadly Doodles is going places in 2018. Follow Deadly’s growth in 2018 by following the brand on Instagram: @deadlydoodles
Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to shoot at my first concert. This was the Maxo Kream-Trill Sammy-No Jumper show. Maxo Kream a Houston native, went to the same high school I did (I.H. Kempner High School). I had no clue what to expect when I was at the show. Maxo's performance had the crowd going crazy. Fans were jumping around and trying to dab up the artists performing, while others were kicked out trying to get on stage. After the show, I was able to meet Maxo and was surprised to see how charismatic he was. He thanked me for taking pictures and I even got to meet Lil Purp. (look at the top left of the picture above)
